LATEST FISHING NEWS
All the waters are currently well up due to the recent rains so access to some of the lakes are proving difficult. Saturday 23rd
May a visiting Angler from England caught 88 lb of bream at Rann. Some bream to 4 lb have been showing up on Town Lake with some good bream caught in the castle river which flows out of the lake. Large roach to 2 lb have been recorded at the river in Belturbet along with pike to 17 lb. DERALK;-has been producing good bream and tench to 6lb but you do need to fish from about 4am till noon to catch them. The river at KILLYKEEN is fishing well for roach, hybrids and skimmer with only the odd bream showing. TOWN LAKE continues to produce good heads of roach to 1lb but fish the rivers coming into and out of the lake to catch the larger ones.
BELTURBET;-The River near the marina has been producing good heads of roach up to 1lb 8oz but beware of the monster pike taking your catch. A local angler was playing a fish estimated to be nearly 30lb in weight before being snapped. He was fishing with a pole for roach at the time. Good bags of roach are also being caught on the jetty at TOWN LAKE, KILLESHANDRA.
KILLYKEEN/LOUGH OUGHTER;-Pike match held on 15th February was won by Jim Toms and Darren Bayliss with 4 fish weighing a total of 23lb-8oz, second place went to Keiron McCormack with 2 fish weighing 7lb, in third place was local guide Kenneth Teevan and Frank Curran with 3 fish with a total weight of 6lb 4oz.
CALLOUGHS LAKE;-Pike match held on 4th January was won by Kenneth Teevan and local tackle dealer Derek Whittaker with 2 fish of 12lb-12oz and 16lb-12oz giving a total of 29lb-8oz, second place went to Jim Toms and Darren Bayliss with one fish weighing 16lb-10oz, in third place was local guide Keiron McCormack and Garreth Nulty with 3 fish with a total weight of 10lb.
CREENAGH;-Good pike weighing 19lb, 16lb ,15lb have been caught on this trout lake in the last week or so to local anglers.
TOWN LAKE;-Charity Match held on 29th December produced a few fish to 9lb 8oz all proceeds totalling 440.00 euro was collected for the Killeshandra Senior Citizens Fund. TOWN LAKE also produced 25lb bags of Roach on Boxing Day.
RAMOR, VIRGINIA;-30th DEC. Catches of 70lb of mainly hybrids have been reported from the Marina Section of RAMOR this week.
BELTURBET; A 26lb pike was caught on 6th November at the Marina in Belturbet.
EONISH;-2nd NOV 08. PIKE caught totalling 88lb by KILLESHANDRA PIKE ANGLERS competing in their 2nd match of the season. The Match was won by Sinead & Paudie O'Reilly and his girlfriend Schira with a total of 20lb. Sinead catching a pike weighing 16lb 4oz and Schira with one at 3lb 12oz.
KILLYKEEN;-5th OCT 08. 22 PIKE caught totalling 114lb by KILLESHANDRA PIKE ANGLERS competing in 'Maggies Bar Competition. The Match was won by Jim Toms & Darren Bayliss with a wining total of 34.5lb(5 fish).

SWAN LAKE, GOWNA:-11th AUg 08. Mixed bags up to 35lb.

980 lb of BREAM caught by Steve & Bob Kennedy on Town Lake, Killeshandra over 6 days from 25th-30th MAY 08. Best single bag was for a total of 189 lb of BREAM.
